Risks and Side Effects

There are minor risks with this procedure such as, headache, bruising, redness which are common, but short-term. Recovery time is minimal and side effects are rare. If the skin does not absorb the fat evenly in some cases there can be lumps, bumps, and valleys on your skin after the treatment but that can be resolved by a follow-up treatment.

Before Your Treatment (Preparation)

You will meet with your treatment representative, and you will both review:

  • Your current status:
    • Goals, Medical history, health conditions, allergies, previous surgeries
    • Discuss options and recommend other features of the service
    • Medications you’re taking, vitamins, OTC drugs, and prescriptions
    • Within 15 pounds of their weight goals
    • Review the risks
    • Use of alcohol, tobacco, or any illegal drugs
  • Discuss your preparations
    • This service has a dehydrating effect so drink plenty of water a couple of hours before and after the treatment so that your body can quickly recover
    • Take a picture and measurements will be taken for the areas you want to have work done on
  • Avoidance of…
    • Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 48 hours before your appointment
    • You may also be asked to avoid taking a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, such as ibuprofen 2 weeks before your treatment

The Treatment Process

The consent form will ask you to confirm that you understand the risks of the procedure and have realistic expectations. This treatment is not good for people who are trying to lose a lot of weight.
During the treatment you may feel a warm sensation in the treatment areas, and you will also hear a buzzing in your ear from the ultrasound machine. The treatment may take between 30 minutes to an hour.

After Treatment – What to Expect

The fat cells absorb into your lymphatic system and drain as waste from your body a few days after treatment. You must hydrate as much as possible after the treatment to help your body flush out the fatty cells through your lymphatic system.
You will not see results right away or after your appointment. Your body might feel puffy or swollen but it takes time for your body to dissolve the fat cells.

Frequency

You will get the best results with a consistent treatment schedule. Most patients do weekly treatments.

The treatment plan may also vary on how long the patient wants lasting results. For example, a 6-to-12-week treatment plan, then followed by a bi-weekly treatment on average for visible results for an extended period as long as a healthy diet is maintained along with exercise.
