Dermal Fillers

What is a Dermal Filler?

Dermal fillers are one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatments in the world. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, injectable dermal fillers help diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face.

This treatment is a minimally invasive procedure known to help plump thin lips, enhance shallow contours, soften facial creases, remove wrinkles, and improve the appearance of recessed scars. Think of it as a smoothing solution for lost volume and wrinkles.

They are most popular in the cheeks, lips and jawline, but can be used under the eyes, in the temples, and even in the body.

Most dermal fillers are a gel composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally manufactured by the body. We utilize dermal fillers to restore lost volume that takes place during the aging process.

This treatment leaves you with a refreshed and relaxed appearance. It can also add volume to your lips and skin. It can also reduce the appearance of crow’s feet, lift the corners of the mouth and eyebrows and soften forehead lines.

Dermal fillers can also help you:

How much filler will I need?

Starting in our 30’s we begin to lose about 1cc of collagen or volume in our faces per year. Based on these calculations, most patients will need at least 1 syringe of filler per decade of age to restore lost volume.

A syringe per decade is a baseline, but depending on lifestyle, diet and other environmental factors, some people lose collagen and volume at a more rapid rate.  For these reasons, it’s best to see our nurse practitioners for a consultation to determine just how much filler you’ll need to achieve your aesthetic goals.

How do Dermal Fillers work?

As we age our face begins to lose volume and elasticity which creates deeper wrinkles, folds and skin laxity (sagging skin). This is because our bodies produce less collagen and elastin. These are two proteins that are often confused with each other.

Collagen is a protein that serves as one of the main building blocks of our skin. Its main role is to provide structure, strength, and support in your body.

Elastin helps tissues and organs in your body stretch. Supplements may help your body generate more elastin. It’s approximately 1,000 times pliant than collagen.

You can restore that youthful look with dermal injections in areas that need restored volume to help mitigate sagging, wrinkles and folds. Not only do dermal fillers add volume, it also stimulates collagen production.

Our Service

Our professional team of experts provide free consultations to assess your needs and address your areas of concern. We work with you to create an aesthetic care plan to meet your goals and match your budget.

You have the option of either starting off with a consultation and schedule you to come back for treatment another day, or we can do your consultation and treatment on the same day (the most popular choice for our clients!).

Our checklist of pre and post care is a great place to start.

A consultation we’ll talk about what happens on the day of your treatment. Our nurse practitioner reviews your concerns and treatment plan, then they apply topical numbing cream for 15 to 20 minutes. Next, they start injecting. Dermal filler appointments typically take about an hour from start to finish.

Don’t forget to review our post care checklist to make sure you end with the best treatment results.

Common Questions:

What is the best Dermal Filler to use?

It depends on the location. The filler that’s best for the under-eye hollows is not the same as the filler used to build volume in the cheeks. During your consultation, your provider will discuss your concerns and talk about the different fillers appropriate for each location.

What is the difference between Botox and Dermal Fillers?

While Botox is used for dynamic action lines (lines that tend to move), Dermal Fillers are usually used for filling in more static locations like depleted volume and etched in statics lines.

What if i don't like the results after getting fillers?

Fillers are not permanent. You and your injector will have a discussion before the procedure to ensure you are both on the same page. If you are unsure of your results, you can come back in for an adjustment or even have it dissolved if that’s necessary.
